We are now holding interviews for English teachers to join our team in Suzhou. We focus on teaching engaging, communicative English language classes to young learner students aged from 3 to 14 years old with some adult classes too.
Our school was established in 1977. Since that time it has grown to more than 350 schools in five countries. Our focus has always been on providing quality lessons to students, young and old alike. We recognize that good lessons require good teachers therefore we provide excellent training, ongoing development as well as opportunities for promotion and advancement.
Our school has staff of fully-trained ESL teachers, all of which are native English speakers, hailing from the United States, the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, NZ, and South Africa. They are ably assisted by the dedicated support staff of local Chinese teaching assistants.
The average working week consists primarily of afternoon and evening classes Wednesday to Friday and then morning and afternoon classes on the weekend, with Monday and Tuesday free to relax or explore around the exciting city.
Courses
Courses are designed around a core of set texts and supplementary materials. Teachers are encouraged to use a communicative approach to teaching and to add their own extra resources and ideas to bring variety to the learning environment. All new teachers undergo 2 weeks of Initial Training, introducing our curriculum and our teaching methodology. After this, we provide on-going training and valuable feedback on your classes, making sure nobody is left in the dark to struggle with a class. Chinese Teaching Assistants are in the class with us at all times, and are there to help with any complicated subjects or difficult students.
Teach English in Suzhou
Suzhou is a renowned cultural, historic and tourist city, located just 25 minutes north of Shanghai on the fast train. The city is located in the southeast of Jiangsu Province, bordering Shanghai on the east. Written historical records indicate that Suzhou has a history of over 4000 years and the city is now best known around China for its unique and plentiful gardens and its many streams and canals, which have earned it the nickname “Venice of the East”.
In early years, teahouses and theatres were the most common nightlife activities. With the development of tourism however, there are multiple more fashionable choices in Suzhou now.
Suzhou is widely known in China as being one of the most livable cities in China, with a buzzing expat community and friendly locals. You will not enjoy only good food there, but also cosmopolitan atmosphere of nightlife activities including cafes, bars, teahouses, theatres and cinemas.
Main Responsibilities
-Student age: 3 to 14 years old
-Maximum of 24 teaching hours per week
-No fixed office hours required
-Average teaching workload: 12–20 hours per week
-Full-day classes on weekends
-Days off: Monday & Tuesday
-During winter and summer vacation peak periods (approximately 30–40 days), full-day work schedules may be required
-Maximum of 14 students with in-house teaching
-Lesson planning
-Interview and place new students
Compensation
-Excellent salary: 20 – 26,000 RMB per month

Requirements
-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland
-Bachelor’s degree
-120 hours TEFL certificate OR 2 years teaching experience (No TEFL? We recommend INTESOL)
