Kindergarten ESL Jobs in Hangzhou
We are now holding interviews for native English teachers to teach young learners aged 3 to 6 at our international kindergarten in the beautiful eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou. If you are a warm, energetic and experienced kindergarten teacher who enjoys working with young children and can deliver fun, engaging and age-appropriate lessons, then we are interested in speaking with you.
This is a homeroom teaching position, and foreign teachers will stay with their class throughout the school day, with a maximum of 20 teaching classes (each class is 30 minutes long) per week, with the rest of the time spent supporting students’ daily routines, classroom activities, and communication development.
Teachers will create a positive English learning environment where children can develop confidence, curiosity and early communication skills through songs, stories, games, movement, phonics, arts, crafts and interactive classroom activities. Lessons should be engaging, student-centred and suitable for early years learners.
Each classroom has around 25 students, with two local teachers working together with the foreign teacher. Classes are held from Monday to Friday, with weekends off. The working schedule is generally 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including a lunch break, with one collaborative planning meeting per week during the lunch hour starting at 1:00 PM.
Teach English in Hangzhou
There is a famous saying in China: 上有天堂 下有苏杭, “Above, there is heaven. Below there is Hangzhou and Suzhou.” Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, is a city steeped in history and renowned for its scenic beauty. With a history stretching back over 2,000 years, Hangzhou gained prominence during the Southern Song Dynasty as China’s capital and a major hub for trade and culture. Today, it is a vibrant metropolis with a population of over 10 million, blending its ancient charm with modern innovation. The city is perhaps most famous for West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage site that has inspired poets, artists, and scholars for centuries. Hangzhou’s historical landmarks, including ancient pagodas, temples, and tea plantations, stand in contrast to its role as a modern tech hub, home to companies like Alibaba.
Teachers will find living in Hangzhou a delightful experience, thanks to the city’s unique mix of cultural richness and modern amenities. Explore the picturesque West Lake, take boat rides, visit nearby scenic spots like the Lingyin Temple and the Longjing tea fields, or hike in the surrounding mountains. The city also boasts a thriving culinary scene, with Hangzhou cuisine offering delicacies like West Lake fish in vinegar sauce. With its excellent public transportation, international schools, and vibrant expat community, Hangzhou offers a high standard of living, making it an attractive destination for teachers seeking both cultural immersion and modern comforts.
