We are now interviewing qualified Primary and Secondary English teachers to join a highly regarded bilingual school in Shanghai.
If you are an experienced, professionally qualified teacher with a strong background in Primary or Secondary education and an interest in working in a high-quality bilingual school environment, then we would like to hear from you.
The school follows a British curriculum approach and places a strong emphasis on academic excellence, student development and high-quality teaching. Teachers are encouraged to deliver engaging, learner-centred lessons that develop students’ confidence, literacy, communication skills and independent thinking. The Primary English position involves teaching students aged 6 to 12, while the Secondary English position involves teaching students aged 12 to 18. Teachers will plan and deliver well-structured English lessons, assess student progress and work collaboratively with colleagues to support students’ academic and personal development.
Teachers work in a professional and supportive school environment with a strong focus on collaboration and continuous development. With approximately 15 to 20 teaching sessions per week, teachers have time outside the classroom for lesson preparation, assessment, collaboration and involvement in wider school life.
We are looking for teachers who are professional, reflective and passionate about education, particularly those with previous experience in established international or bilingual schools.
Teach English in Shanghai
Known as the ‘Pearl of the Orient’, Shanghai is truly an international metropolis in every sense of the word. The most vibrant and progressive city in China, Shanghai is the economic and cultural centre, blending an incredible mix of Eastern and Western culture. On one side of the mighty Yangtze River flowing through Shanghai is the Pudong district, rural farmland just 20 years ago; now it is the financial and commercial hub, with skyscrapers stretching ever higher. Along the western bank of the river, the iconic Bund reminds visitors of Shanghai’s colonial past, with grand European architecture.
For those who like to shop, party and eat, Shanghai has all you could possibly want and more. But despite its cosmopolitan reputation, pockets of quaint tradition remain alive and well, dotted throughout the city. Explore countless old markets, back streets crammed with local eateries and discover incense-filled temples still central to the locals’ daily life.
Main Responsibilities
-Teach English to Primary or Secondary students
-Work within a British curriculum bilingual school environment
-Approximately 15 – 20 teaching sessions per week
-Each teaching session is 45 minutes
-Monday to Friday working schedule
-Working hours: 7:45 AM – 4:45 PM
-Plan and deliver engaging, learner-centred English lessons
-Create a positive, structured and supportive classroom environment
-Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
-Work collaboratively with teaching colleagues and school staff
-Participate in meetings, school activities and professional development
-Contribute positively to the wider academic and pastoral life of the school
Compensation
-Excellent salary: 25,000 – 36,000 RMB per month depending on experience

-Fully paid winter and summer holidays
-Summer holiday from approximately late June to 10 August
-Optional Christmas holiday of approximately 1 week, with time taken to be made up

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree
-PGCE, QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification required
-Minimum 2 years of relevant teaching experience
-Native English speaker from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Ireland
-UK, Australian and New Zealand teaching backgrounds preferred
-Strong classroom management and communication skills
-Professional, organised and culturally aware
-Able to work effectively as part of a collaborative teaching team
-Candidates requiring school places for dependent children cannot currently be considered due to limited staff-child places
