We are now interviewing native English teachers to join our language school in Guiyang, southwest China. If you are an energetic, professional teacher who enjoys working with children and teenagers and can deliver engaging, learner-centred English lessons, we would like to speak with you.
Our school currently operates two training centres and one kindergarten, with a team of five foreign teachers. Students range from 3 to 18 years old and class sizes are kept small, with around 10 students per class. Each class is taught by one foreign teacher, supported by a Chinese teaching assistant, which helps lessons run smoothly. Teachers are encouraged to create a positive, interactive learning environment and use a variety of activities to keep students engaged and motivated.
This position follows a training-centre schedule, with classes mainly on weekday evenings and weekends. Teachers work from Wednesday to Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday off.
We are currently looking for one teacher to start as soon as possible. We prefer teachers already based in China, but we may also consider overseas candidates with visa documents ready, including a criminal background check and authenticated degree documents.
Teach English in Guiyang
Guiyang is the capital of Guizhou Province in southwest China and is known for its relaxed lifestyle, green surroundings and affordable cost of living. The school is conveniently located near public transport. A metro station is about a five-minute walk away, with bus connections nearby as well.
One advantage of living in Guiyang is the relatively low cost of accommodation compared with larger Chinese cities. Local rental prices are approximately 1,500 to 1,800 RMB per month, allowing teachers to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle while keeping living costs manageable.
Guiyang also offers teachers the chance to experience a less commercial side of China while still enjoying modern shopping centres, restaurants, cafés and convenient city transport.
Main Responsibilities
-Teach English to students aged 3 to 18 years old
-Work Wednesday to Sunday, with Monday and Tuesday off
-35 total working hours per week
-Maximum of 26 teaching hours per week
-Each class is approximately 1.5 – 2 hours
-Working hours are mainly during weekday evenings and weekends
-Class size: around 10 students
-Work alongside a Chinese teaching assistant in each class
Compensation
-Excellent salary: 20,000 – 25,000 RMB per month before tax
-Legal Z work visa provided
-Group medical insurance and accident insurance provided
-Summer holiday: approx. 1 – 2 weeks
-Winter holiday: approx. 2 – 3 weeks
-Holiday allowance during summer and winter breaks: 7,000 RMB per month, calculated pro rata for shorter holiday periods
-Labour Day and National Day holidays observed
-3,000 RMB annual flight allowance from the second contract year
-5,000 RMB contract renewal bonus
-Free kindergarten place available for teachers with a kindergarten-aged child
Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree or above required
-TEFL / CELTA / teaching license certificate (No TEFL? We recommend INTESOL)
-Minimum 2 years of relevant teaching experience
-Native English speaker from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland & South Africa
-Teachers already based in China preferred
-Overseas candidates with required visa documents ready may also be considered
-Clean criminal background check
-Authenticated degree documents required for overseas candidates
-Clear, neutral English accent
-Passionate about teaching children and teenagers
