Sports Teaching Jobs in Hangzhou

We are now holding interviews for qualified sports teachers and coaches to teach 5 to 14-year-olds at our partner public school sports centres in the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou. We are currently looking for an Ice Hockey Coach and a Football / Soccer Teacher. If you are an energetic coach with experience working with young learners and can deliver safe, engaging, and well-structured sports lessons, we are interested in speaking with you.

Teachers will prepare and deliver practical sports lessons according to the students’ age, level, and ability. Lessons should focus on developing students’ sports skills, confidence, discipline, teamwork and active participation. Teachers are encouraged to create a positive and motivating learning environment where students can enjoy sport while making steady progress.

All new teachers will receive training on arrival and will be introduced to the school sports centre, teaching expectations and student management methods. Teaching guidance and support will be provided, and teachers are encouraged to adapt lesson plans where needed to ensure classes are engaging, safe and suitable for each group.
Classes are scheduled from Monday to Sunday, depending on the school and student timetable. There are no regular office hours. Weekday classes are usually held after school, while weekends and school holidays are usually the busiest times.

Teach Sports in Hangzhou

Hangzhou is one of China’s most attractive and liveable cities, famous for its natural beauty, modern lifestyle and rich cultural history. Best known for West Lake, green scenery, tea culture and a relaxed atmosphere, Hangzhou offers international teachers a comfortable lifestyle with plenty to explore.

The city also has modern shopping areas, restaurants, cafés and convenient public transport. Located in eastern China, Hangzhou is well connected by high-speed rail, making it easy to travel to Shanghai and other major cities during time off.

Main Responsibilities

-75 teaching periods per month, each lasting 30 minutes
-No regular office hours
-Working days may be scheduled from Monday to Sunday
-Weekday classes are usually arranged after school, often from around 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
-Weekends and school holiday periods are usually the busiest times
-Students’ age group: 5 to 14 years old
-Teach ice hockey or football/soccer to young learners at public school sports centres
-Prepare and deliver structured, engaging and age-appropriate sports lessons
-Make suitable teaching and training plans according to students’ levels and abilities
-Ensure lessons are safe, active and student-centred
-Assess students’ performance and provide constructive feedback
-Help students develop sports skills, teamwork, confidence and discipline
-Attend staff meetings and training sessions when required
-Support school sports activities, events or demonstrations when needed
-Extra teaching periods above 75 per month are paid at 100 RMB per additional period

Compensation

-Monthly salary: 15,000 RMB after tax
-Monthly housing allowance: 2,400 RMB after tax
-Total monthly package: 17,400 RMB after tax, including housing allowance
-Extra teaching periods: 100 RMB per additional period
-Annual paid leave: 10 days per year

Requirements

-Fluent English speaker; native-level English speakers highly preferred
-Qualified candidates from all nationalities are welcome to apply
-Professional background in ice hockey, football/soccer or a related sport
-For the ice hockey role, candidates from Canada or with Canadian ice hockey coaching/training experience are highly preferred
-For the football/soccer role, club, academy, school team or coaching experience is preferred
-At least 2 years of coaching or teaching experience
-Experience teaching children or young learners preferred
-Basic Chinese preferred but not required
-Professional, energetic, responsible and passionate about sports education
-Able to manage and motivate young learners aged 5 to 14
-Applicants should provide an updated resume, self-introduction video, recent training or competition videos, and recent professional / coaching photos
