We are currently recruiting dynamic English teachers to teach adult students at our flagship language schools in Shenzhen. Candidates will use a variety of teaching approaches along with their creativity and energy and a wide range of teaching materials and technology to engage students in a truly memorable and effective learning experience.
You do not need prior experience teaching as we offer a comprehensive training program and even offer a free TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course which covers the foundations of teaching methodologies and prepares you for the classroom. If you have fluent English, a patient personality, are able to create a fun learning environment and you have a genuine interest in improving the language skills of our students, then we have a position for you.
The Schools
English First (EF) is truly global company, established in 1965 and now with over 500 centers around the world. EF opened its first school in China in 2001 and has since established itself as the market leader for private language learning with over 300 schools, employing over a thousand teachers.
The Students
You will be teaching students aged from 18 years and older. These days learning English is an essential part of many careers for Chinese people, so your students will be motivated to learn and eager to improve their English. You will be teaching levels from beginner to intermediate and advanced, which allows for a lot of variety in the topics and teaching styles. You will focus on developing the students’ communicative abilities through a variety of controlled practice exercises as well as providing plenty of opportunities for high student talk time through role plays, discussions and pair work.
Course Materials
Popular with students and teachers alike, EF course books have been developed by a dedicated team of linguistic and educational experts. Course books are accompanied by a wide range of supplementary materials. All schools have interactive white boards, connected to the internet and loaded with multimedia resources which add an exciting new dimension to how you can teach.
Teach English in Shenzhen
Shenzhen is located in the southern portion of the Guangdong Province, on the eastern shore of the Pearl River Delta. Neighboring the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong (located just south of Shenzhen), Shenzhen’s location gives it a geographical advantage for economic development. In 1980, the first Special Economic Zone of China was built in Shenzhen. From then on, Shenzhen become a highlighted city of China, one known for its rapid economic growth.
Shenzhen is considered as one of the richest cities in the country which offers foreigners a great insight into contemporary China. From a small fishing village 30 years ago, Shenzhen has turned into a city filled with dynamic energy and on its way to becoming a world-class metropolis. Shenzhen is also known for its famous architecture, bars, restaurants, art scenes and shopping areas.
Main Responsibilities
-Teachers work 5 days / 40 hours a week with 2 consecutive days off
-20 to 25 hours per week are spent teaching
-Remaining time is used to plan lessons, spend time with students and other admin duties
Compensation Package
-Excellent salary: 13,000 to 15,000 RMB (approx. 1,800 to 2,100 USD) per month
-8,000 RMB annual flight allowance
-Sponsored legal Z work visa
-12,000 RMB salary advance available

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree
-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland
-No previous teaching experience required as we provide full training
-TEFL certificate preferred but not essential (we will pay for a TEFL course if you do not have one)
-Ability to live abroad for at least 1 year
-Ability to obtain a clean criminal background check
-Open minded, patient, energetic, and culturally sensitive
