Position Overview

Our mission is to transform children’s learning by combining immersive content, innovative technology, and engaging teaching methods that inspire children to confidently communicate with the world in their own voice.

The Language Learning Director (LLD) will oversee all academic operations within their assigned Language Learning Center. The LLD is manages all Foreign and Assistant Trainers within their Center, ensuring staff retention and ongoing development, and ensuring consistent excellence in program delivery for learners aged 2-12.

Essential qualities for this challenging position include strong people management skills and the ability to motivate and lead a team of international teachers. A proven track record in teacher training through workshops, class observations and one-on-one support are vital to this role.

The right candidate will be organized and logical in planning and implementation of new school initiatives. Excellent creativity and problem solving skills are also needed.

You will have a degree and credible TEFL qualification as well as a wide range of teaching experience, especially to young learners. You will be well versed in TEFL methodology and teaching techniques.

Courses

Course material features Disney characters throughout and places an emphasis on natural English communication. It is backed up with an amazing array of supplementary materials to really bring the class to life, from flashcards, an entire room full of realia, song CDs, games, digital material, toys and a comprehensive teacher’s guide. Each classroom is fitted with an interactive white board & digital presentation wall which is packed full of animated teaching material helping to further enrich the student-centered learning environment.

Shanghai – The City

Known as the ‘Pearl of the Orient’, Shanghai is truly an international metropolis in every sense of the word. The most vibrant and progressive city in China, Shanghai is the economic and cultural center, blending an incredible mix of Eastern and Western culture. On one side of the mighty Yangtze River flowing through Shanghai is the Pu Dong district, rural farm land just 20 years ago, it is now the financial and commercial hub with skyscrapers stretching ever higher. Along the western bank of the river, the iconic Bund is a reminder of Shanghai’s colonial past featuring grand European architecture.

For those who like to shop, party and eat, Shanghai has all you could possibly want and more. But despite its cosmopolitan reputation, pockets of quaint tradition remain alive and well, dotted throughout the city. Explore countless old markets, back streets crammed with local eateries and discover incense filled temples still central to the locals’ daily life.

 

Summary of Responsibilities

– Develop and maintain a guest-focused team anchored around the 4 standards of Disney quality: Safety, Courtesy, Show and Efficiency
– Ensure compliance with academic standards and successful delivery of Disney English Content to ensure learning results in line with company targets
– Provide training to new trainers both on-going and through on-boarding
– Regularly observe lessons and provide constructive coaching and development to Trainers to maintain high academic delivery standards
– Conduct on-going academic staff meetings to focus on professional development and resolution of classroom issues with cast and learners
– Provide ongoing leadership to Trainers, delivering timely and constructive feedback with follow-up, in addition to comprehensive performance reviews at company determined intervals
Academic Delivery and Business Responsibilities
– Maintain high quality of academic delivery in his/her own classes ensuring consistently high standards
– Deliver up to 6 hours per week of ongoing, regularly scheduled classes/demo classes and additionally substitute for absent trainers based on center needs
– Oversee the accurate placement of all children in the Disney English program in the Center and open new class slots for the sales team when demand requires
– Ensure all local and foreign trainers’ classroom schedules are optimally designed and utilized based on the number of enrolled children
– Through guest service excellence, measurable academic results and support of the sales process, ensure that Center performance goals are met by achieving new learner enrollment and existing learner renewals targets

Required Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
– CELTA or equivalent classroom based TEFL required
– International work experience required
– A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in EFL education (2-3 years with young
learners preferable)
– A minimum of 2 years in a management or leadership role
– English language fluency including but not limited to: proper grammar, sentence structure,
word tense, subject-verb agreement, and proper use of adjectives and adverbs
– Internationally recognized English language teaching certification
– Proven success in team leadership, performance management and staff development
– A passion for educating young learners, with a focus on delivering measurable results
– Experience living and working in China is required

Compensation and Benefits

– Great package: starting at 14,000 – 16,000 RMB (depending on experience and qualifications)
– 3,000 to 4,850 RMB additional monthly housing allowance (depending on location)
– Paid airfare to China up front by the school and a monthly travel stipend toward return trip
– 7,000 RMB training bonus (paid with first month’s pay)
– Eligibility for additional quarterly incentive based upon overall Center performance
– Legal ‘Z’ work visa
– 10 days paid vacation time, plus 11 days Chinese national holidays per year
– Airport pickup
– Free hotel provided for up to 3 weeks on arrival in China
– Initial 2 week training course as well as on-going professional development
– Eligibility for additional quarterly incentive based upon overall Center performance
