The Courses

Standard Classes
The core classes taught will have up to 3 students per class which helps ensure real progress is made by all and allows for easy virtual classroom management.

Lessons are made up of a variety of teaching materials and are designed to be engaging and communicative. Teachers guide students through both controlled practice and authentic conversation activities. All the lesson materials are already in place, so minimal lesson planning is required.

Complementary Classes
Teachers also run Complementary Classes, which are are communication classes of 8 students on average, allowing students to develop their fluency with fellow students at their same level. Class topics vary and usually involve interactive role plays, such as arranging holiday plans, ordering food in a restaurant, being interviewed for a job, and debating on a variety of topics.

Social Club
You can incorporate your creativity, cultural background and interests in Social Club activities that we organize for our students. Social Club activities could be anything from a pub quiz to a student theatre performance to holiday celebrations. The themes of Social Clubs depend entirely on you and your students’ interests. The goal is to get all students together in a fun environment.

All classes are 55 minutes in length.

Professional Development

Learning is at the heart of our organization and on-going professional development is part of our company culture. Seminars and classroom observations provide forums where teachers can meet like minded colleagues and develop their teaching techniques. With a promote-from-within policy, our managers are dedicated to mentoring teachers’ potential and encouraging progression into management positions.

Shanghai – The city

Shanghai is the possibly the most vibrant city in world, but certainly the most exciting in China. From its famous skyline and it busy thoroughfares to its small lanes and neighborhoods; Shanghai has something to offer for everyone. Coming to Shanghai to teach English will be the most exciting time of your life, whether it’s your first time away from home or a seasoned traveler, you’ll find Shanghai a favorable destination. The streets are full of small boutiques. There are numerous temples to satisfy those who may be looking for peace and tranquility and bustling areas like People’s Square will satisfy those who are engaged in people watching.

Shanghai was where China first met the West and it’s still a frontier town, obsessed with the latest fads, fashions and technology. But tucked between the shopping malls and the eye-popping modern architecture is the old Shanghai, where temples nestle down alleys, along with street markets and classical Chinese gardens. Shanghai is a city of stunning contrasts, where visitors can go from sipping a cocktail in a designer bar overlooking the Bund, to eating dumplings at a street stall, or gazing at a 10th-century Buddhist monastery, in the space of a few hours. Summer is hot and humid, winter can get cold, but Shanghai never stops.

Shanghai star

“There are several things that stand out about being a Wall Street Teacher and are the reasons why I’ve stayed here longer than any other company and will continue to do so.

First of all there are the students. As we become familiar with our students over the duration of their time we begin to become familiar with them both as students and then as friends.

Second is the teaching material and class length. Four person Encounter classes and Eight person Complimentary classes are tightly related to the Computer based self learning system and being fifty five minutes long they are focused and punchy.

Third is the management structure which removes the cultural barriers which are sometimes difficult to adapt to, regular ongoing training and a clear path for those who wish to advance their careers within Wall Street English.
