One of the most common questions we get asked is what the job prospects are like for graduates of the INTESOL course and what the likelihood is of gaining employment with a reputable school. First of all, when schools interview for new teachers they are looking for candidates with an internationally accredited, externally moderated certificate. This is proof that the course offered is of a high quality.
Secondly they will look at the length of the course and what is actually covered during the course. Requirements will vary from country to country and we would be pleased to provide you more details on specific country requirements. Most schools in China and other Asian countries are able to hire teachers with a 100 hour INTESOL certificate although longer courses will be viewed more highly as they cover topics in more detail. The majority of schools worldwide will not regard courses under 100 hours in high esteem.

Some schools, in Europe for example, require a face to face teaching practice component which involves you planning and teaching classes to real students. In this case the INTESOL Level 5 190 Hour Course or the INTESOL Level 5 220 Hour Course would both be most suitable. You will first complete the online components and then put that into practice with 1 week of work at a language school first observing current teachers, acting as a teaching assistant and finally planning and delivering your own lessons to a class of real students.
Our courses are long enough to cover all important aspects of English language teaching helping you not only to meet the requirements that schools worldwide insist on but also ensuring that when you start you first teaching job you will feel confident in front of a class. True, there are shorter and cheaper courses available out there but are they fully accredited? Will potential employers see you as a suitably trained and will you feel prepared enough to get up in front of a class and teach effectively? This is why we our courses start from a minimum of 100 hours in length.
At INTESOL we are extremely proud to say that, since our founding in 1993, over 20 years ago, every single one of our INTESOL course graduates have gone on to find a suitable teaching job. Schools around the world seek out INTESOL graduates as we are well known as a provider of top quality teacher training.
