Choosing the Right TEFL / TESOL Course

Choosing the right TEFL / TESOL course is an important decision and the options available can seem overwhelming. You may have seen TEFL / TESOL courses offered online totaling just 40 or 60 hours. The course content covered in these shorter courses is really not substantial enough to provide a firm foundation in teaching and are generally seen by schools as too short. The majority of schools worldwide are looking for people who have completed at least a 100 hour course.

At the other end of the spectrum are month long intensive courses, which are run in language centers, face to face. Although these courses do cover a lot and will prepare you well for a job teaching, they are very intensive, requiring you to attend classes from 9 to 5 every day and with course work to do in the evenings. Participants will have to give up their current jobs to attend and, as the courses are likely to be held in a different city, will likely have to rent temporary housing for the duration of the course. The financial burden of not earning money and having to rent a place and support yourself for an entire month often make these face to face courses impractical.

Benefits of the INTESOL Online Courses

INTESOL offers the ideal solution for people looking to get certified in teaching English as a Second Language through our range of online courses. The INTESOL courses are fully accredited, provide comprehensive course materials and full support from a qualified tutor. You can study from wherever you are in the world and you have the flexibility to move through the course at your pace, on your schedule. It is entirely up to you how many hours of study you put in throughout the week and on which days, so you have the freedom to work at times that suit you best.

Perhaps your schedule allows for 3 hours of study on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings and a Saturday afternoon to the course. Maybe you prefer to do a couple of hours in the mornings another hour at lunch time and have the weekends off. Some of our students decide to spend more hours per day to study and can complete the course in a shorter time. Working at your own pace gives you time to absorb the course material fully and allows for a better understanding.

As the materials are all delivered online you can work from home, your local library, a coffee shop, a park or whatever environment feels right. You can even download the course materials on to your computer and work offline, uploading the completed materials later when you next have an internet connection.

You will be assigned a course tutor for the duration of your studies. All INTESOL tutors hold substantial qualifications in language teaching and teacher training with years of experience in the education industry. “I really enjoyed the teaching practice. I was so nervous when I went but Jean and all the staff really put me at ease and were very helpful. I enjoyed the observation classes and then progressed to teaching. The whole experience was extremely worthwhile and to be recommended to anyone completing a TESOL teaching course. My thanks to all who made it possible. I will never forget it.”
